Grandfather Mountain‘s Peak Beauty of Fall Foliage

Fall color comes early to the peaks of Grandfather, so you don‘t have to wait until late in the month to see spectacular foliage.

Colors will be bright on the upper slopes from the 5th to the 10th. Color at Grandfather will peak between the 10th and 20th. At the end of the month, Grandfather becomes a great vantage point for looking down at color in the valleys.

Valle Country Fair

The Valle Country Fair is an overgrown church bazaar set in the center of one of the most picturesque valleys in the North Carolina mountains at the peak of the fall color season. All monies raised go to fund High Country organizations which serve people in need. Last year more than 10,000 people enjoyed: Crafts, food, mountain music; 135 juried fine art & crafts booths; Freshly pressed apple cider; Hot-out-of-the-kettle apple butter; Homemade jams & jellies; Brunswick stew, chili & barbecue.

Located in the field across from the Valle Crucis Conference Center on Highway 194. Admission is FREE. Parking is available adjacent to the fair at $5 per vehicle. It starts at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
